Cleaning stonewashed quilts requires some special considerations to ensure that the stonewash effect and material are not damaged.

1. Check the washing label on the quilt carefully before washing
Because different fabrics and filling materials may have different washing requirements. If the label allows machine washing, choose the gentle cycle. Set the washing machine to the gentle cycle and use cold water. This is because hot water may cause the quilt to fade, shrink, or damage its soft texture after stonewashing. It is also best to wash stonewashed quilts separately and avoid washing them with other dark-colored or easily faded clothes to prevent staining. If you are worried about fading, you can add anti-staining tablets to the washing machine.

2. Recommended preparation
If the washing label recommends hand washing, prepare a large enough container, such as a clean bathtub or large plastic basin. First add cold water to the container, then add an appropriate amount of mild detergent, making sure the detergent is completely dissolved. Place the quilt in the water and gently stir and press to slowly remove the stains. Be careful not to rub or wring the quilt vigorously, as this may shift the filling material or damage the fabric.

3. Stains
For localized stains, use a clean soft cloth or soft brush to dip a small amount of diluted detergent and gently wipe the stain. If it is a more stubborn stain, such as oil or blood stains, you can first apply a small amount of detergent to the stain and let it stay for a while before washing. However, before using any special stain removers, it is best to do a small test on an inconspicuous part of the quilt to ensure that it will not cause damage to the quilt.

4. After washing
After washing, rinse thoroughly. Whether it is machine washing or hand washing, make sure that the detergent is completely rinsed out, because residual detergent may affect the texture of the quilt and the comfort of the skin. You can rinse several times until the water becomes clear.

5. When dehydrating
When dehydrating, if it is machine washing, you can choose the gentle dehydration mode. If it is hand washing, gently squeeze or use a dry towel to absorb excess water. After that, lay the quilt flat in a well-ventilated place without direct sunlight to dry. You can also use the low temperature drying mode, but take it out when it is still a little damp and let it dry naturally, so as to prevent the quilt from deforming. Finally, when the quilt is completely dry, you can gently pat it to restore its fluffyness.
